Cure for Misery in the Quran

The Quran is a complete code of life, a book brought down upon the Holy Prophet (PBUH), a word of Allah and a set of principles whereby you can live your entire life, a source of happiness for the sad, a source of cure for the miserable. Everything is there is the Quran. Allah talks about the good and bad that befalls His creation in the following verse and all throughout his words He also gives solutions for those miseries. Allah says:

“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.” [Quran, 6: 59]

Allah knows that there is light with darkness, happiness with misery, pleasure with pain. He KNOWS this for he is ALL-KNOWING. And in His ultimate knowledge He has given us the tool to cure our miseries.  Not only does the Quran help you in the terms of blessings that Allah sends upon you when you recite it but it also calms you, composes you and makes you feel better no matter what the difficulty. The Quran recitation has the power to open your mind and think of solutions to your problems, to rid yourself of misery. THAT is the cure right there. It’s recitation.

The holy Prophet (PBUH) said:"How wonderful is the case of a Believer! There is good for him in whatever happens to him -and none, apart from him, enjoys this blessing. If he receives some bounty, he is grateful to Allah and this bounty brings good to him. And if some adversity befalls him, he is patient, and this affliction, too, brings good to him" (Muslim).” Such is the simplicity of following the book of Allah. Reciting it teaches us to be grateful when good takes place in our life and be patient when misery befalls us. Isn’t that so beautiful?

So recite the Quran when you’re feeling stressed, lost, low, angry and upset. Even a few lines can do wonders to your heart and soul and uplift your mood, bringing with it the positivity to solve the issues befalling you. Remember, that when you are reading the Quran you are talking to Allah, make sure it’s a conversation that lessens the pain in your heart.
